Mint Raita Recipe

Mint Raita and Lamb Biryani complement like Roast Lamb and Mint Sauce. Similar to Cucumber Raita combine finely chopped fresh mint with yogurt. Add braised cumin seeds, red chilli flakes and spring onions to the mint mixture just before serving.

Mint Raita Recipe

Yield: serves 8 people


300ml yogurt
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
half teaspoon chilli flakes 
2 stalks spring onions or regular onions sliced fine
1 cup chopped mint
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil or sunflower oil 

Cooking Directions

  1. Wash and prepare the mint. Chop fine. Add yogurt.Place in the refrigerator.
  2. Heat a pan on medium heat. Add the oil. Add toasted cumin seeds. add onions and chilli flakes. Fry for 3 minutes until onions are slightly brown.
  3. Add the braised mixture to the yogurt just before serving. Mix to combine all ingredients  or serve with a top layer of braised cumin seeds and chilli flakes.
